LIFE WITHOUT DREAMS, OR ROCKS, PLANETS & OTHER FEELINGS FROM THE DARKLANDS

Across film, collage, and sculpture, in this body of work psychological inquiry plays out amidst imaginary topographies. Life Without Dreams, a short film, is set in the outer space of consciousness, where the surfaces of far out planetary bodies form the terrain for an exploration of 24/7 capitalism, insomnia, and the disappearance of darkness. Montaging archival images of nocturnal animals, a narrative of sleeplessness, NASA animations of the night sky, and videos of sleeping train passengers, this constellation of images distorts the contours of reality as it melds with fiction. Collages and sculptures orbit this film. Rocks, real and dreamt, plastered and painted, are suspended between formation and deformation. On 2D planes, found images, drawings, and charcoal dust fracture space and time, coming together to compose otherworldly dreamscapes.
