 

#  Elvira Notari. Beyond Silence (2025) — New York Premiere and Special Events

A series of special New York events will mark the launch of *Elvira Notari. Beyond Silence* (2025), a new documentary inspired by the groundbreaking book *Streetwalking on a Ruined Map* (1993), authored by Giuliana Bruno, Emmet Blakeney Gleason Research Professor of Visual and Environmental Studies . The film revisits the legacy of Elvira Notari, Italy’s first and most prolific woman filmmaker, who directed more than 60 feature films and hundreds of short films between 1906 and 1930.

The documentary explores Notari’s pioneering contributions to early cinema and her enduring cultural relevance today.
