#  Joshua Oppenheimer ’97 on the 50th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Genocide

Documentary filmmaker Joshua Oppenheimer '97, a Special Concentration student who studied filmmaking in VES, writes about the 50th anniversary of the genocide in Indonesia in a *New York Times* opinion piece, “[Suharto’s Purge, Indonesia’s Silence](http://nyti.ms/1VkTOSg).” Two of Oppenheimer’s films, “The Act of Killing” (2013) and “The Look of Silence” (2015), explore the legacy of this genocide.
