Elle Pérez, Dominga Sotomayor, and Akosua Adoma Owusu selected for 2022 Venice Biennale

AFVS Faculty member Elle Pérez and AFVS Visiting Faculty members Dominga Sotomayor and Akosua Adoma Owusu have been selected for participation in the 2022 Venice Biennale. Also included on this list are CCVA Exhibiting Artist Candice Lin, former AFVS Visiting Faculty member Virginia Overton, and 2021 Solomon Fellow Sondra Perry.

AFVS Visiting Professor Ernst Karel and CMP student Veronika Kusumaryati's new film ‘Expedition Content’ opens in cinemas in NYC and Los Angeles

The latest film to come out of the Sensory Ethnography Lab, by Ernst Karel and CMP student Veronika Kusumaryati opened in cinemas in NYC and Los Angeles. The film will be shown at Acropolis Cinema, Lumiere Music Hall, Beverly Hills, January 14-20, 2022 and at Anthology Film Archives, NYC, January 7-16, 2022.

Young Joo Lee and Sarah Jenkins awarded MacDowell Residencies

AFVS Visiting Lecturer Young Joo Lee and Teaching Assistant Sarah Jenkins have been awarded MacDowell Residencies for the summer of 2021. They are two of 47 artists from 13 states and three countries representing seven artistic disciplines. These highly competitive residencies were originally scheduled for 2020 and rescheduled due to the COVID pandemic. Read more on...

Dominga Sotomayor premieres The Year of the Everlasting Storm at the Cannes Film Festival

July 26, 2021

Visiting Faculty member Dominga Sotomayor traveled to France to premiere The Year of the Everlasting Storm, directed by Sotomayor along with Jafar Panahi, Anthony Chen, Malik Vitthal, Laura Poitras, David Lowery, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, at the Cannes Film Festival.
