[Tom Conley](/people/tom-conley), Abbott Lawrence Lowell Professor of Visual and Environmental Studies and of Romance Languages and Literatures, was one of eight faculty from Harvard elected to the [American Academy of Arts and Sciences](https://www.amacad.org). Founded in 1780, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences is one of the nation’s most prestigious honorary societies.
