*Whiplash*, a film written and directed by VES alum Damien Chazelle AB '07, received an Academy Award nomination for [Best Picture](http://oscar.go.com/nominees/best-picture/whiplash). Chazelle was also nominated for his screenplay in the [Writing (Adapted Screenplay)](http://oscar.go.com/nominees/writing-adapted-screenplay/whiplash) category.
