Julie Mallozzi is a documentary filmmaker whose work explores the transformative power of traditional cultural practices. Her current project *Entangled Minds* is a journey into the minds of four people seeking relief from their pain through treatments that induce altered states of consciousness. Mallozzi’s feature documentary *Circle Up* (2017) explored how indigenous peacemaking circle practices help a group of Boston mothers find restorative justice for their murdered sons. The film screened at dozens of film festivals and on public television, and it continues to create impact at prison and probation programs, faith organizations, courthouses, K-12 schools, and universities.

Mallozzi’s earlier projects include the film and two-channel installation *Indelible Lalita* (2012), which unpacks the complex identity of a woman who migrates from Mumbai to Paris to Montréal as her body is painfully transformed by cancer and skin pigment loss; *Monkey Dance* (2004), which reveals how traditional Cambodian dance, blended with hip-hop, helps three Cambodian-American teens navigate the minefields of gangs, drugs, and teen pregnancy; and *Once Removed* (1999), exploring her own Chinese-Italian-American heritage. All have screened widely at festivals, on public television, and in community settings.

Mallozzi received her BA from Harvard College and her MFA from San Francisco Art Institute. She has taught at Harvard, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston University, and Rhode Island School of Design.
