X-Ray Architecture
On Medical Discourse, Transparency, Materiality, and Media in Architecture
Discussion with Giuliana Bruno, Beatriz Colomina, Liz Diller, Martino Stierli

Wed March 11, 2020 @6.30pm
MoMA - The Department of Architecture and Design
Cullman Education and Research Building (4 W 54th Street)

On the occasion of the publication of Beatriz Colomina’s book X-Ray Architecture, please join us for a conversation about architects’ longstanding obsession with medical discourse and imaging technologies. We will discuss how this preoccupation has played out in the development of transparency as a dominant paradigm of modern and contemporary architecture, and ask how new diagnostic tools require us to rethink the ways we conceive architectural materiality and media more broadly. Colomina (Princeton) will be joined by Liz Diller (DS+R) and Giuliana Bruno (Harvard), in a conversation moderated by Martino Stierli (MoMA).

Please RSVP to <adevents@moma.org> by March 4. We hope to see you at MoMA on March 11.
