CALL FOR PROPOSALS! AFVS 151: Nonfiction Video Projects

hfhfuf

Call for proposals for a summer film shoot.

Fall 2023: Mondays & Wednesdays 9-11:45am

Instructor: Ross McElwee (mcelwee@fas.harvard.edu)

Teaching Assistant: Vera Rosen-Bernstein (vera_rosenbernstein@fas.harvard.edu)

Prerequisites: At least one AFVS half-course in live action film and video.

Course Description

Working from a proposal approved in advance by the instructor, each student shoots, and edits a documentary video on a subject chosen by that student. Proposed subjects should take into account filmmaker access and permissions.

Shooting should take place over the summer and editing during the fall term. Screenings of films by established non-fiction filmmakers will augment production work during the fall term. We will loan Sony Z150 video cameras and accessories to all students whose proposals are approved.

Please note due date: April 19th.

Proposals should be sent by email to both Ross and Vera.

Please feel free to contact us by email of you have questions about your proposal. If you are still waiting for an official Harvard announcement about the status of fall term courses, go ahead and submit a proposal by the deadline for a “hypothetical” film shoot. This way you’ll be covered no matter what happens.

Proposals should be submitted directly to the instructors at the email addresses above.
