The Solomon Fellowship invites artists, filmmakers, and critics with strong visions and voices, embedding them into the life of the Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies. Fellows interact with students and faculty through class visits, workshops, and a public presentation, deepening the impact of visiting artists through student engagement. The Fellowship, a generous gift of the Solomon Family, extends visiting artists' involvement in the life of the Department and the University at large.

Fellows are nominated through a department-wide open call which is then considered by the Solomon Fellowship Committee, comprising members representing all areas of the Department including a graduate and an undergraduate student (both chosen by lottery). The undergraduate student is invited to serve as the Solomon Fellowship Undergraduate Liaison, a compensated position that works closely with the Fellow during their residency. If you are a current AFVS Sophomore interested in this position or a current Film and Visual Studies PhD Candidate interested in serving on the Committee, please contact spinneyspinney@fas.harvard.edu.
