Giuliana Bruno is the recipient of a Doctorate Honoris Causa from the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts (IDSVA).

Previous recipients of this honor include literary scholars Stephen Greenblatt and Susan Stewart, the philosopher Gianni Vattimo, and the artists Julie Mehretu and Alfredo Jaar.

An official ceremony will be held on January 11, 2020 at Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, a venerable Museum and Cultural Center in Mexico City, founded in 1588 and the birthplace of modern muralism, hosting speeches of foreign presidents and cultural personalities.

Following the laudatio in her honor, she will deliver a commencement speech.
