Digital Classroom and Fabrication Lab

Photographs of the Fabrication Lab (left) and Digital Classroom (right).

The Digital Classroom and Fabrication Lab are located on the fourth floor of the Carpenter Center.

The Digital Classroom is home to four iMacs (three are equipped with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Bridge; one is equipped with the AutoCAD suite and Blender), drawing tablets, a light table, a flatbed scanner that also is capable of scanning negatives, a laser printer, and several inkjet printers, including a large-format inkjet printer.

The Fabrication Lab is home to two Dremel DigiLab 3D45 printers with a maximum build volume of 10” x 6” x 6.7,” and a Universal Laser Systems ILS12.150D laser cutter with a 2’x4’ cutting bed, as well as two dedicated computers which host the operational software for these tools.

Both facilities are open to all members of the AFVS community - faculty, staff, graduate students, concentrators, and students enrolled in AFVS classes - who complete an orientation for each space, which must be repeated every academic year. Students may contact their AFVS faculty member, Teaching Assistant, or Teaching Fellow for information about participating in an orientation.
